The currency question
What changes when the account is held in your own currency
A gambling account is a currency account before it is anything else, and the currency it is held in decides what every stake in it really costs. This page separates the brands that quote the Canadian dollar from the brands that merely accept Canadians, and it says which of the two readings we could make from outside the country.

A gambling account is a currency account first
Every discussion of an online casino begins somewhere in the "lobby" (the page that lists the games), with the number of games (a figure every brand rounds upward) or the look of the tables.
The one decision taken before any of that is which currency the "ledger" (the book in which the operator keeps the balance) will be kept in. And it is settled at registration (in a drop-down list, usually below the address fields), in a drop-down list that most players scroll past in a second, and it cannot be changed afterwards on any of the platforms in our index (a support desk will offer a second account instead).
The consequence is not aesthetic. A balance kept in the currency a player earns and spends in is a balance whose figures mean what they say ("C$50" being fifty dollars and not an approximation of them). Meanwhile a balance kept in another currency is a translation of his money that is re-translated every time the money moves.
Translation has a price, the price is a percentage (two charges, applied by two companies), and a percentage applied to a sum that crosses a boundary four times in a year is paid four times. That is the whole argument of this page, and the reason the domain carries the name of a currency rather than the word "bonus".
We are not going to tell you that one casino is better than another; we are going to show you where the currency boundary sits and what it charges when a reader's money steps over it.
The objection, which comes before the method
A site paid by the casinos it describes is in a poor position to tell anybody what a casino costs. The objection deserves to be answered here (in the second section, where a reader still has it in mind) rather than in a note at the bottom of the page.
Our links are paid, every one of them, and the order in which the brands appear above is the authority that licensed each one and then the alphabet (a rule you can apply to the same data and reach the same list). What a payment cannot buy is the currency list on a "registration form" (the screen that asks for a country and a currency) or the path of a "landing page" (the first screen a link opens), because neither of those is ours to write.
Of the sixteen comparison sites for this market that we read in October 2026, several published a "payout speed" (a figure no reader can check) and a "rating" (both of them figures nobody can check) and not one published the currency the account is held in. It is the single field that applies to a player on his first deposit (and on every one after it) and on every one after it. The admission that belongs next to that claim is short.
We could not open accounts to settle the question from the inside, and what follows is what the addresses, the registers and the programme sheets say.
Where the two charges live, and they are not in the same document
The first charge is in your own card agreement, under a heading that usually reads "foreign currency transactions", and it runs at around two and a half per cent of the amount of the "transaction" (the converted amount, not the amount you typed). It is not a gambling charge and it does not appear on a statement as one: it is folded into the converted figure, so that a deposit of two hundred dollars arrives on the statement as a line of two hundred and five.
The second charge belongs to the operator; it is the rate at which the operator turns what you sent into what its ledger holds, and nobody publishes that rate next to a deposit button (and no regulator in our index requires them to).
The charge is visible only by comparison, by putting the amount that left the bank beside the amount that arrived in the balance (the "transaction history" (the record every operator keeps inside the account) of the account gives the second figure), and the difference between those two numbers is the only honest measure of it.
A player who moves two hundred dollars in and three hundred and forty out, twice each in a year, has crossed the boundary four times on a total of one thousand and eighty dollars. At three and a half per cent a crossing, which is the two charges together at the low end, the "spread" has taken something close to thirty-eight dollars. And that is more than most entry offers on this market are worth, and it arrives in four pieces that no statement labels!
The reading a reader can make before registering
The strongest check on this page is one you can run in a browser in about ten seconds, and it does not require a reader to give anybody a name or an address. Click a button, look at the address bar, and read the path (the part after the domain, before any question mark). A path that contains "/ca/", "/canada/" or "en-CA" is a page that the operator built for this country.
An operator does not build a country page without a reason: the currency list, the payment methods and the terms behind it are usually the country's own ("Interac", for instance, appears on no page written for Europe). A path with no country in it at all, the plain ".com" with a tracking parameter and nothing else (an "a=" or an "aff_id=", which is ours), is an international page, and the account it opens is the international account.
This is the reading the four boxes on every card above carry, and it is the reason they say "a Canadian landing page" rather than "CAD accepted". The first is a fact about a page that anybody can verify; the second is a claim about a ledger that only an account holder can see.
Three of the brands in our index serve the whole country from a page with no country marker, and we say so in their boxes instead of assuming the ledger follows the licence.
Three levels of evidence, and we keep them apart
The brands on the Games Global "platform", which is the engine that carried the name "Microgaming" until 2022, publish Canadian pages, and the register we work from lists the Canadian dollar among their currencies, with the full list marked as one to confirm on the form.
That is the strongest position any brand in our index occupies, and it is still short of certainty, and betway, Videoslots and LuckyDays each list the Canadian dollar explicitly in the register. The first of the three reaches Canada through a path that names the country while the other two do not.
The four brands on the SkillOnNet "platform" reach Canada through a page marked "en-CA" and the register leaves their currency list as one to confirm, which puts them a step behind on evidence and not necessarily behind in fact. The fourteen brands of the Casino Rewards group sit in the third position, and it is the one worth reading slowly.
Their landing addresses pass through a redirect that carries no country at all, and the currencies visible in the programme panel on the twelfth of October 2026 were the American dollar, the euro and the pound (three currencies, and not the fourth one). The Canadian dollar was not among them.
We have not concluded from that that a Canadian account is impossible, because a panel is not a registration form; we have concluded that the gap is real and that marking it is more useful to you than covering it.
What the provinces do to this question
In Ontario and in Alberta the currency question largely answers itself, because a brand registered with the province operates a separate site under provincial rules (a ".ca" address, with its own licence and its own account) and that site is built for residents of the province. A reader connecting from either one sees the page written for it, which lists only the operators on that province's register and carries no offer of any kind.
Everywhere else in the country there is a provincial monopoly and no local licence that an "offshore" operator could hold, so the brands on this page are the international ones and the currency of the account is a matter between the player and the operator. The minimum age is nineteen in most provinces and eighteen in Alberta, Manitoba and Québec (the province sets it, and the operator applies it), and it is set by the province rather than by the casino.
The French-speaking reader has a section of this site written for him, because thirty-two of the tracked addresses we hold reach a page in French, and a page in a reader's own language is worth as much to him as a page in his own currency!
What we could not read, and where it shows
The brands on the Games Global "platform" answer a request from outside Canada with a refusal (an HTTP 403, which is a server declining to serve a country rather than an error), so their Canadian pages could not be read from where this site is built. The same is true of several provincial pages (".ca" domains, which answer only inside the province they serve). What follows from that is a column rather than a silence.
The withdrawal window, the payment methods available to a Canadian account and the currency the ledger finally settles in are recorded as unverified in our files. The full index carries that state next to the brand instead of a plausible sentence; a marked gap is one you can close, while a filled one is invisible.
You are better placed than we are to close those gaps, and the place to close them is the registration form, before the first deposit rather than after it, and the currency list is on it, the payment methods are on it, and both are visible without entering a card number.

Questions readers ask
How do I tell whether a casino holds my balance in Canadian dollars?
Two readings answer it, and the first costs nothing. The address of the page the button opens either names the country ("/ca/", "/canada/", "en-CA") or it does not, and a page written for another market is rarely a page that opens a Canadian ledger; the second reading is the registration form itself, where the currency list appears before any money moves.
Does the casino charge me for the conversion, or does my bank?
Both, in two separate places. The card agreement carries a foreign exchange charge of around two and a half per cent on a transaction settled in another currency, and an operator that converts your deposit into its own currency applies its own rate before the balance appears.
Is a Canadian dollar balance worth more than a welcome offer?
On the arithmetic of a year it usually is, which is why this site publishes no welcome figures at all. An offer arrives once and the spread arrives at every crossing of the currency boundary, so the comparison that matters is one payment against four or fourteen.
Which brands on this site are confirmed to settle in Canadian dollars?
The register we work from lists the Canadian dollar for the brands on the Games Global platform, for Betway, for Videoslots and for LuckyDays, and it marks the full currency list as one to confirm on the registration form. For the Casino Rewards brands the panel we read on the twelfth of October 2026 showed other currencies and not the Canadian dollar, and we have left that gap marked rather than filled.
